Renowned Swiss watchmaker Tissot celebrates its 165th birthday this year and the brand has a rich history when it comes to crafting timepieces which celebrate its creativity and innovativeness.
TISSOT HERITAGE PETITE SECONDE
The Tissot Heritage collection comprises its 2018 new releases and it is a fine example of this philosophy as it consists of watches which were inspired by models of yore that testify to the exceptional skills and knowledge of its watchmakers.
The inspiration behind the 42mm Tissot Heritage Petite Seconde is a timepiece which was part of the brand’s 1943 collection. That particular watch was designed to be a city watch with its hardwearing nickel-chromium alloy case, small yet distinctive seconds dial, and 27mm calibre which was a Tissot exclusivity.
The Heritage Petite Seconde pays homage to the 1943 model by adhering to the same principles but sporting myriad attributes which make it a much desired modern watch. A domed dial, silver and vertically brushed with the Tissot logo of that time, reflects the past while the “box” type anti-reflective sapphire crystal, often seen on high-end watches, stainless steel case and svelte leaf-shaped hands make stylish statements. The manual winding movement is finished with luxurious touches such as blue screws and Cotes de Geneve and Heritage logo.
TISSOT VISODATE QUARTZ
Tissot celebrated its centenary in the 1950s and it was also around then when the date display was first integrated into the calibre of the watch. Inspiration for the 40mm Tissot Visodate Quartz came from that period and its name appropriately shows off the connection – “Viso” and “date” directly translates to “see the date”. A gently-curved dial mirrors the domed sapphire glass and both were designed to flaunt the clearly visible date while historical logos of the brand on the dial, case back, crown and buckle bridge the past and the present.
