Standing at 226m high, Swissôtel The Stamford is one of the tallest hotels in Southeast Asia. Since it opened in 1986, it has become an iconic landmark of Singapore, right in the heart of the City Hall area, with Changi Airport just a 20-minute ride away and MRT stations around the corner.

But the hotel, which is popular among af fluent modern business travellers, isn’t resting on its laurels. It has just completed the first phase of a comprehensive multi-million dollar renovation. The result of this: new Premier Rooms and Premier Harbour View Rooms, par t of a total of 1,261 guestrooms and suites that will undergo a total overhaul by the end of 2018.

Retaining the Swiss touch, yet smarter and greener

As Swissôtel The Stamford is known to combine world-famous Swiss hospitality with cutting-edge technology, its newly renovated rooms feature rustic teak wood and hand-crafted stone wall accents reminiscent of the Swiss Alps.

Each room also comes with a snack basket inspired by picnic carriers, a bedside chair that is a modern take on the traditional rocking chair and a Nespresso machine for when you wish to perk up with a cup of fine coffee. You’ll also spot hints of the iconic Swiss cross emblem throughout the room, in the form of robe hooks, door pulls, artwork and more. Step into the bathroom and you’ll find a specially designed vanity box with amenities from Swiss brand Pürovel.

The revamped rooms feature a new In-room Management System that controls all the features in your room, as well as lets you enjoy selected housekeeping and laundry services conveniently from a single interface.

Also in place is a lighting system with different mood settings and motion sensor safety lights that will adapt to your movements if you get up at night. The latter also helps to conserve electricity as they turn off automatically when you are not in the room.

Other ways in which the new rooms contribute to efforts to stay green: An improved fibre network infrastructure will reduce energy consumption by 40 per cent while increasing internet bandwidth by 10 times. In-room air-conditioners that detect condensation and automatically shut off when balcony doors are left open.

And when you leave the room, there’s no need to worry about local SIM card activation or data roaming – a hotel- provided Handy Phone lets you make complimentary local and international calls or surf the Internet on the go.
