A modern take on antiquity.
My Reading Room

When Nikki Hunt, founder of local design consultancy Design Intervention, was tasked to renovate a family home, integrate the owners’ extensive art and antique collections, as well as reflect their belief in fengshui, she turned to the centuries-old style of chinoiserie for inspiration. What has resulted is the clever use of sleek black lines against white walls to frame and draw out the vivid colours in the homeowner’s art collection, melding with the Chinese motifs and octagonal shapes decorating the space around antiques.

A skylight installed above the flights of stairs is also a natural spotlight for these masterpieces.
