Your Eyes Look Tired

You stayed awake to catch up on your favourite TV series, and your eyes were red and watery the next morning.

• Reduce Puffiness An eye

cream or mask instantly refreshes your eyes. Cup them with your palms and gently apply pressure to help the product absorb better as well as reduce puffiness.

• Conceal Dark Circles

Use two different shades of concealer – a warm peach tone to cover the greyness and then yellow to brighten, says makeup artist Larry Yeo. Apply only where needed, such as at the inner and outer eye corners.

• Brighten Up

Make the whites look brighter by applying a nude eyeliner along the waterline of the lower lid, suggests makeup artist Peter Khor. Finish by adding a coat of mascara and filling in your brows.

You Feel Unwell

A dull complexion is one thing, but falling ill will turn your complexion to an undesirable shade of pale.

• Hydrate Skin

Slip on a moisturising or nourishing face mask to instantly plump it up for a smooth and supple complexion.

• Add Colour

Warm up a pale and dull complexion with a peach-toned makeup base. After foundation, add a natural, rosy flush by dabbing a little cream blusher on the cheeks and chin, says Peter.  You can also dab a little shimmery highlighter along the cheekbones and nose bridge. If you prefer a sun-kissed look, lightly dust a little bronzer along the temples and cheekbones, says makeup artist Emma Haddock.

You Feel Stressed

A hectic work schedule, tight deadlines and late nights can take a toll on your skin, making it dry and dull.

• Boost Cell Renewal

Besides eating well and getting enough rest, Emma suggests using a gentle scrub to buff away dead skin cells and reveal a smoother, brighter complexion instantly. This helps to improve the cell renewal rate for radiant skin as well.

• Massage Skin

After the scrub, massage your skin as you apply skincare. Larry says this helps soften the skin and boosts microcirculation to give you a natural, rosy glow.

• Fake a Glow

Use a hydrating makeup base on the whole face followed by an illuminating primer on the cheekbones and brow bones for that lit-from-within glow.

It’s That Time Of The Month...

When you’re on your period, the  complexion can get a little oilier than usual. Sometimes a pesky pimple or two makes an appearance, too.

• Keep Calm & Prep Skin

Instead of feeling self-conscious, the most impor tant thing you can do, says Larry, is not to get stressed by these changes. Simply wick away the extra oil and hydrate to saturate your skin with antioxidants.

• Go Makeup-free

Emma suggests going without makeup for a few days to give the skin a break. And use oil-free or mattifying products that help control excess sebum production to keep skin shine-free and feeling fresh.

• Conceal Blemishes

Start with a pencil concealer, then follow with a cream concealer applied with a concealer brush, says Peter.  He adds: “If you can't find a concealer that matches your skin completely, use two shades.” First, apply a concealer in a tone lighter than your natural skin colour and then, dab on another that’s a tone darker, and blend well.

You Have a Cold

Feeling tired and looking worse for wearwhen you’re fighting a cold is bad enough. But with the constant blowing and tugging, your nose is red and sore, and is starting to peel.

• Moisturise

To soothe the tenderness, especially if the skin is dry and peeling, dab a comfor ting balm around the sides of the nose before bedtime. This helps hydrate and heal the skin as you sleep.

• Conceal Redness

Emma advises using a yellow-based concealer. Just apply a small amount to hide the redness, and then go over with foundation. Alternatively, Peter recommends evening out the skin tone with a colour-correcting primer that gives a natural finish. It warms the complexion and adds a subtle glow to make you look better than you might actually feel. Still a little red? Larry says to use a high coverage liquid foundation to conceal every trace of it.
