Dressed in what they call the “new corporate neutral” palette (think deep blues, and cigar and tan browns), The Great Room looks more like a hotel lobby than what it actually is – a co-working space. Its founders wanted to liberate employees from the dreaded Monday blues; instead of office designers, they worked with hotel specialists Distillery Studio to create a welcoming yet conducive workspace. Distillery had earlier merged with renowned office designer Hassell.

“We have the best of both worlds – a beautiful space with the efficiencies of an office, such as our private phone booths,” says CEO Jaelle Ang, who has spearheaded hospitality projects for hotels here, such as Capella and Four Seasons Hotel.

The Great Room starts at The Drawing Room, a spacious communal space where hot-deskers and employees have quick powwows with their clients or enjoy coffee at the marble-clad bar. Here, sophisticated, plush leather seats sit on timber floors as well as customised carpets from Tappeti.

The space offers different-sized rooms, such as Hot Offices for smaller teams and Dedicated Offices for teams of 20. The latter is furnished with okume timber desks, leather desk chairs, and tall brass storage shelves.

The boutique-hotel feel is enhanced by a well-curated selection of home accessories, such as hand-pleated designer lamps from Denmark and artworks by Singapore-based artists.

The Great Room’s hospitality-led concept doesn’t stop with its interior design; it also takes good care of its members, with complimentary breakfast and quick shoulder massages on Mondays!
