Zannier hotels’ first five-star resort in asia, located in siem reap.
Founded by Arnaud Zannier (son of French fashion mogul Roger Zannier), the luxury hospitality group Zannier Hotels was developed to embrace a philosophy based on Leonardo da Vinci’s quote: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” Following the success of its inaugural resort – a chalet set in the snowy hilltops of Megeve, France – its second concept is an exclusive getaway situated in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Staying true to da Vinci’s quote, the 45 beautifully appointed guest villas at Phum Baitang (“green village” in Khmer) were designed with modern simplicity and tranquillity in mind. Spread out over 8ha, the private villas are available in 861sqf and 1,400sqf configurations, and offer breathtaking views of rice paddies and lush gardens. The visually stunning interiors and tropical vistas transport guests back to the golden era of Cambodia’s rich history.
The architecture is also heavily influenced by the look of traditional Khmer villages, allowing the resort to blend in harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. The management also worked with local craftsmen to create artisanal furniture for the interiors of the resort, as well as to construct structures made of straw, local stone and wood, according to the traditional Khmer style. These include a century-old farmhouse that has been converted into a cigar and cocktail lounge.
Guests of Phum Baitang can expect all the modern amenities, while still staying away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Aside from its proximity to Cambodia’s most iconic archaeological site, Angkor Wat, this hotel is also an ideal starting point for visitors who are keen to explore the different aspects of daily life in Siem Reap. This includes visits to the floating villages, fish markets and walks through the rice paddies.
Phum Baitang also offers gourmet food and beverage options with unique design features. The speciality restaurant, Bay Phsar, is designed to resemble a traditional street market where guests can choose a starter and dessert from the menu, while the main course is made-to-order with fresh ingredients and spices picked by the guests. The meal is complemented by rice grown in the surrounding paddy fields. Another restaurant, Hang Bay, features a menu of fusion cuisine with local fare such as fish amok, and Australian Angus wagyu beef.
PHUM BAITANG IS LOCATED AT PHUM SVAYDANGKUM, SANGKAT SVAYDANGKUM, SIEM REAP, CAMBODIA 1700. FOR BOOKINGS, VISIT WWW.PHUMBAITANG.COM.
