WHY YOU SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT THE “SISTER”

“She’s like a sister.” I hear that a lot from guys who’ve been friendzoned by a girl, but still spend a lot of time with her.

“She’s like a sister.” I hear that a lot from guys who’ve been friendzoned by a girl, but still spend a lot of time with her. Honestly, I think it’s hard for guys and girls to be just friends. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking: cynical much?

Let me clarify: I think a man can be friends with a woman – but only under certain circumstances. Like when she’s a colleague with whom he lets off steam during lunch, or when she’s one of his girlfriend’s friends (they hang out only in the girlfriend’s presence, of course), or if she’s an ex – whom he’s never going to want to be with romantically, but still enjoy hanging out with for an occasional coffee. Those are his friends, and you’ll never hear him say they’re “like a little sister”.

But if he’s texting another girl every day, meeting her for drinks or sending her clever memes, trust me, that’s not a friend.

It’s someone he’s hoping will become more than just that. Guys and girls are attracted to one another – it’s just genetics. So if your guy has struck up a close friendship with another girl soon after meeting her, chances are, someone is interested in something more.

And watch out for the second he says: “She’s like a little sister.” Because chances are, deep down, she’s not.
