EDITOR’S NOTE

Indulge in Guilt-free Self Gifting.

Every December, I like to take stock of the year that has almost passed – looking back on not just the triumphs and challenges, but more importantly, the lessons. It doesn’t matter how many triumphs you’ve celebrated or challenges you’ve overcome, if the lesson isn’t learnt.

Even if your inner critic feels like you haven’t scored a triumph this year, the fact that you are still persisting and trying should be something that’s worth celebrating in its own right.

And who better to celebrate us than, well, ourselves? I don’t believe in waiting to receive that stunning emerald-cut Tiffany & Co. sapphire ring from your partner, or badass knee-length Fendi boots from your best friend. I believe in us indulging guilt-free in whatever luxury – or not (a home party with hawker fare, anyone?) – that we desire on our own terms.

We’re on the brim of a new decade, and it’s time to ditch that guilty mentality that women tend to have when self-gifting, especially at Christmas. Get that designer bag for yourself now, and go on that exotic safari vacation (or two). We know we’ve earned them.
