The lighter, the better

We usually think of facial oils as greasy, thick concoctions that you slather all over your face at night to hydrate and protect your skin from drying out while you sleep.

The Belif Rose Gemma Concentrate Oil ($77), though, is light enough to be used in the daytime and under makeup. It glides on smoothly – though we prefer to pat it on – for a silky but not oily sheen. This gives your complexion radiance, and it even acts as a primer so makeup goes on more evenly.

Apart from delivering moisture, it’s made up of natural oils like rose flower oil that encourages cellular repair from within your skin, and camellia seed oil that is rich in antioxidants. At the heart of it is the brand’s Napiers Original Formula #2, which has herbal oil extracts of rosemary, calendula and lavender to calm skin and protect from environmental stressors such as pollution and smoke. It’s a winner in our books with its plethora of benefits combined with a lightweight and comfortable texture.
