RIOT!

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: Riot! is a bawdy 90-minute revue featuring four to eight drag performers lip-syncing popular songs (“Some terrible, all entertaining,” says drag performer and hostess Becca D’Bus) as they interact with the audience. It’s still the only regular drag show in Singapore, and each performance features new material, so things are kept interesting.

WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH IT: “Riot! was created as a space for performers to do whatever they want, with as little restriction as possible. It’s beautiful, flerce, funny, and probably not for the faint of heart. You’ll be laughing, you might be a little baffled, and then you’ll want to dance in your seat. Come early to get drunk – we are prettier when you’re drunk.” – Becca D’Bus.

LAUGH DIE YOU – THE KARAOKE

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: It’s the battle of the Causeway neighbours as two of the most popular comedians in Singapore and Malaysia – our veteran comic Kumar and Malaysian comedienne Joanne Kam – go head-to-head in a three-hour verbal shoot-out, moderated by funny man Gurmit Singh. Expect barbs about and potshots at both country’s idiosyncrasies – train breakdowns, falling currencies and more.

WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH IT: “It’s going to be crazy, fun and musical – and longer than my usual shows. I will [go to] battle for Singapore and [emerge] victorious!” – Kumar.

Laugh Die You – The Karaoke will be held on July 9 and 10 at Resorts World Theatre. Tickets are priced from $73. For more information, visit www.laughdieyou.com.
