OMEGA’s celebrated Constellation collection was first launched in 1952. Over the years, it has evolved alongside the horology house’s latest technological advancements to be more modern and progressive, beginning with the introduction of a ladies line in 1992.

At the same time, distinctive elements such as the Griffes or claws design, the combination of stainless steel and red gold on the bracelet with the familiar horizontal links engineered for maximum comfort, and the star at the 6 o’clock position still remain in its latest incarnation: The Constellation Petite Seconds Co-axial Master Chronometer.

The beating heart of the spellbinding timepiece is highly innovative, resulting in greater accuracy and performance. As a Master Chronometer, the industry’s highest standard of certification, the watch has passed eight intensive tests set by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).

The new certification process approved by METAS tests water resistance, precision and magnetic resistance to 15,000 gauss, ensuring that each watch far exceeds industry norms.

The Constellation Petite Seconds is among the first ladies’ timepieces to be certified as a Master Chronometer, and OMEGA aims for the majority of their mechanical watches to be Master Chronometers by 2020. This exquisite timepiece has a power reserve of 50 hours and is water resistant for up to 100m.

The timeless design is made more elegant with a radiant white mother-of-pearl dial, dazzling diamond-paved bezel and a new small seconds feature placed at 9 o’clock with four diamond markers.

No other Constellation timepiece has ever been decorated with a small seconds subdial— often associated with traditional timepieces. To offer balance in this new style, the date window has been moved to 6 o’clock.

The contrast of the 27mm brushed case against the polished claws adds a dynamic element to the overall aesthetic, while the sapphire crystal caseback allows the wearer to fully appreciate the power of the Master Chronometer calibre 8704. This is one of the six new Master Chronometer movements introduced at this year’s Baselworld.

To have such a movement within a petite timepiece demonstrates OMEGA’s design excellence and technical innovation—an ongoing journey dedicated to being at the forefront of horologerie.
