It’s no surprise if you thought immediately of ION Orchard.
Since opening its doors in 2009, the mall has prided itself on delivering a shopping experience unlike any other Singapore mall. To that end, it has hosted numerous larger-than-life happenings including celebrity appearances, Formula One events, fashion shows, live news broadcasts, cultural celebratory occasions, gourmet affairs, street parties and movie tie-ups. Little wonder then that, eight years on, ION Orchard remains one of the top shopping and tourist destinations in our little red dot.
GEARING UP
To mark its anniversary, the mall’s throwing an eight-month-long party, which kicked off in March with a Spring/Summer-themed luminous garden at ION², complete with water feature and a lush rain tree. At nightfall, thousands of LED lights turned the garden into an illuminated wonderland, drawing oohs and ahs from visitors.
What’s a celebration without a fashion milestone? French label Dior added to the glitz with a pop-up at Level 1 ION Atrium store – one of only five destinations selected worldwide – featuring the first S/S ’17 collection by new creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Then on April 1 and 2, the first-ever celebrity/blogger makeup challenge “8 Shades of Awesome” will be held at B4, ION Station. Head there to catch four of your favourite celebs and influencers vie to be awarded the best K-pop-inspired look.

And that’s just ION Orchard getting warmed up. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, gourmet diner, shopping fanatic, watch and jewellery aficionado, or music lover, there’ll be something for you during the eight months of celebrations. There’s also word that the finale – slated to take place in September – will involve a star-studded celebrity fashion concert, so keep your eyes peeled for more details!
