She wasn’t always into folk

“I was mostly into punk and rock during my teenage years. I loved bands like Paramore, Meg & Dia, VersaEmerge and Evanescence.”

Sad events inspire her music the most

“Unhappy experiences are the most inspiring to me, and I feel they are what make the essence of a song powerful and great. The process of songwriting, and translating the emotions into the song, is an incredibly liberating one.”

It wasn’t easy composing her recent EP Luna, though it wasn’t her first time

“Composing Luna was tougher as I’d set higher expectations of myself and wanted it to be better than my first EP Heart. It was also hard to get the recording funded, but I managed to do it.”

She didn’t expect the invitation from SXSW

“I didn’t have much expectations as they have high standards for their featured music artists, so I was really surprised when I got invited! I’ve performed in other countries before, including Australia and South Korea, but they were usually at cosy venues.”

Five things that make her happy

“Good music, good coffee, the ocean, having ample alone time, and ordinary people being extraordinary.”
