1 It’s Beyoncé vs Adele

The two powerhouse divas are going head-to-head with each other in three different categories: Beyoncé’s “Formation” and Adele’s “Hello” are nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year, while their respective releases Lemonade and 25 are both strong contenders for Album of the Year. One thing’s for sure, though – if Beyoncé loses out again, Kanye won’t be stomping the stage and stealing mics this time round, given the recent beef he’s had with the Carters.

2 Justin Bieber is the thorn among the roses

In the pop categories, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album, the Biebs is the only male nominee. His competition? Adele, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Sia, Kelly Clarkson, and Demi Lovato – all amazing singers in their own right. Tough luck, Justin. Better luck next year.

3 James Corden will be hosting

Who doesn’t love James Corden? The funny, affable late-night host is best known for his Carpool Karaoke segment with celebs, so who knows, maybe he’ll lead everyone in a sing-a-long?

4 Beyoncé is… rock?

So Queen Bey is leading in the list so far, with nine nominations to her name. One category that people were surprised to find her name in is the category for Best Rock Performance. Hold up – what?! The song that got her nominated in this category is “Don’t Hurt Yourself”, which Jack White produced and features in. She’s up against the late David Bowie, Twenty One Pilots, Alabama Shakes, and Disturbed. Wow, what a year.

5 Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, and Bruno Mars are missing from the nominations because…

Wait a minute, why are the chart-topping hits from these brilliant artistes missing from the nominations list? No, they’re not being snubbed. Gaga’s “Joanne”, The Weeknd’s “Starboy”, and Bruno’s infectious “24K Magic” were all released after September 30, 2016 – the cut-off date for this year’s Grammy nominations. Bummer.

(500) Days of Summer

Like the narrator of the movie said, this is a story of boy meets girl, but it’s not a love story. Watch this if you’ve ever looked for love in all the wrong places.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

You’re the Apple of My Eye

Spoiler alert: there’s no happy ending in this one because it’s based on events in the author’s real life. And we all know that real life has no happy endings.
