My Reading Room

Dear CLEO, It’s winter in Paris, and the days are short. To make the most of the few hours of sunshine and help beat that first-day jetlag, I grabbed a sandwich and people-watched at Jardin du Luxembourg, Paris’ second-largest public park located in the 6th arrondissement. While in the area, check out Grom for a cup of delicious hot chocolate or gelato – be sure to try my fave flavour, Caramello al Sale (caramel and Himalayan pink salt). Another park worth checking out is the Jardin du Palais Royal. Parisian parks are notable for their immaculate rows of trees, which make for the perfect backdrop for selfies. Be sure to make a coffee stop at the garden’s Café Kitsune.

What is Paris without its Eiffel Tower? It was a foggy day, so I decided to visit it at night, and it was just as magical as I imagined. If you’re not up for long queues or brave enough to go up the tower, an alternative is to climb 284 steps up to the top of Arc de Triomphe, located at one end of Paris’ famed Champs-Élysées.

There are many places for good croissants, but two of my favourites are Des Gâteaux et du Pain at Boulevard Pasteur and Eric Kayser, a bakery chain found throughout the city, including the hip foodie district Rue Montorgueil.

To rejuvente both your skin and soul after exploring the city, make a beauty pit-stop at Clarins Skin Spa Neuilly sur Seine.

Until next time, à bientôt!
