Multi-hyphenate and Bvlgari’s pink-haired ambassador Margaret Zhang shares her style insights.

Bvlgari recently launched the newest addition to its Omnia fragrance range, the Pink Sapphire. Inspired by the precious stone, the perfume is simultaneously playful and sophisticated. At first whiff, you get uplifting citrus notes of pomelo balanced with spicy pink pepper. Frangipani and sweet wild tiara are at the heart while white musk and woods give it a sensual, velvety dry-down. Bright and multifaceted, it’s not unlike photographer, director, stylist and blogger Margaret Zhang, who is one of the three millennials who front it. At the launch of the fragrance, she shared her go-to wardrobe pieces and what’s next for her.
Oversized, slouchy blazers – generally menswear, actually. It always fits so much better.
Yeah, I feel that even if you’re just wearing a t-shirt, [a blazer] just formalises [the look].
Eclectic. That’s kind of a cheat though, because then it opens up all these options.
I think it’s quite confusing for people. It’s great that people can pick the thing they relate to, but often, they have a hard time separating out me as a front-facing figure, me behind the camera, and me when I’m consulting or shooting. It’s a lot going on, so people often ask “what are you doing now?”
Overhead lighting generally sucks – it just makes strange shadows on your face. Early morning and late evening lights are always the best. Also, when it’s overcast and rainy, it’s actually really great for photos because it acts like a diffuser.
I am working on a feature-length screenplay at the moment, and it’s very intense. Hopefully, that will go into development soon. I’m halfway through; I need to confine myself to the desert and finish it.
