The Promise: Touted as the natural alternative to Botox, Deborah Mitchell’s signature product, the Bee Venom Mask is said to lift, tighten and firm, with the help of bee vemon which both controls and relaxes the facial muscles, while targeting lines and wrinkles.

What to Expect: Those who have been stung by a bee may be understandably reserved, but fear not, the initial tingling is mild and lasts just a few seconds. So comfortable in fact, you may even forget you even have it on, which I did and left it on for 40 minutes before remembering to wash it off. The scent isn’t particularly pleasant, but not offensive either.

Packaging: Simple and sleek housed in a sturdy transparent cube that looks like glass but remains lightweight. Luxurious enough to out shadow the rest of the contents in your bathroom cabinet.

What’s in it: Organic rose and lavender essential oils, organic marshmallow and shea butter with vitamin E and betacarotene. Active ingredients are the bee venom, manuka honey and Abeetoxin.

How to Use: Gentle enough to be used as a moisturiser after cleansing, applying a thin layer to face, neck and eye area. Or for more intense results, apply a thick layer 10 to 20 minutes before bed and wash off with warm water.

Best for: Those who want the benefit of Botox but have a fear of needles! And the silver version has been designed for those with sensitive skin, reactions are unlikely as the formula is free orf common irritants. For nature lovers who are wondering – methods used to extract the venom leave the stinger intact so bees are unharmed in the process.

Final Verdict: While I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s Botox in a bottle, for a noninvasive treatment, it did have a firming and hydrating effect, so eager to see if there is further improvement with continued use. Ease of use is a plus and it can be seamlessly added to your skincare regimen as a moisturiser, without the time and effort a mask requires. www.heavenskincare.com.
