ASIDE FROM A LONG-STANDING HISTORY with classic cars and its shared values of technical excellence, passion of timeless mechanisms and the emotional power of unique human adventures, Zenith has one more reason to celebrate its ties this year: in 2016, it has been joining thousands of passionate classic car enthusiasts around the world in more than 50 events – all gathered together to appreciate the high-speed thrills, finely weathered leather, exceptional engines and pure sleek curves of legendary cars.

Encapsulating the many facets of the sport is the El Primero 36’000 VpH Classic Car, designed especially for those who value peerless precision and with a penchant for elegant speed machines.

Its 42mm brushed steel case is dressed with a fluted crown, two round pushpieces and captures a anthracite dial featuring an engine-type finish punctured by three counters on the original anthracite, blue and light grey colours. Aside from a tachymeter scale, the timepiece crosses the T’s with a slim red central sweep-seconds hand as well as luminescent facetted hands and hour-markers.

For sailors and boating-enthusiasts, the timepiece is even water resistant to 100 meters. Powering each of those details is the El Primero 400B automatic chronograph calibre, which – as the name suggests – runs up to 36,000 per hour, enabling 10th of a second display.

Its integrated column-wheel construction is a legacy born from the world’s most precise series-made chronograph developed by Zenith in 1969. The 362-part movement wound by an oscillating weight adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif drives central hours and minutes, small seconds, chronograph and date functions for up to 50 hours.

For final touches, the El Primero 36’000 VpH Classic Car wraps around the wrist with a rubber-lined perforated chestnut brown calfskin strap dressed with a steel triple folding clasp.
