RIVIERA FESTIVAL OF BOATING

THE RIVIERA FESTIVAL OF BOATING offers four days of fun and learning at Riviera’s 14-hectare, world-class facility at Coomera on Australia’s Gold Coast.

Now in its 5th year, the festival brings together all aspects of boating, with more than 110 free educational seminars and hands-on practical workshops covering all areas of seamanship.

SANCTUARY COVE INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

THIS YEAR MARKS THE 28TH ANNIVERSARY of Queensland’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS). The four-day event is held at The Marine Village in Sanctuary Cove on Australia’s Gold Coast.

As well as a showcase of the latest in boating, SCIBS will feature the Australian Marine Export and Superyacht Conference for the two days preceding the show, as well as an International Business Lounge, Top Deck VIP Lounge, and the Women On Water programme. The announcement of new layouts and additions to the programme including themed precincts The Boatyard – a dedicated exhibition space for sports, ski boats and trailerable craft – and Supercar Street, which will feature a spectacular automotive display, have significantly increased interest for the 2016 show.

DUBAI INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

THE DUBAI INTERNATIONAL BOAT Show (Mar 1-5) proved to be a success with the 24th edition of the event reporting strong sales and a high proportion of serious buyers attending the show. UK-based manufacturer Princess Yachts named this year as its most successful appearance at the Dubai show, after showcasing five new 2016 models ranging from 12-metres to just over 26m in length.

UAE-based boat builder Gulf Craft, with the biggest display in the marina, also had a successful showing selling US$22 million worth of luxury yachts and leisure boats across its range. The 24th edition of the event boasted an impressive 450 boats on display with 39 boat launches including 16 global and 23 regional premieres. Exhibitors included Azimut Yachts, Ferretti Group with the help of exclusive local dealers Art Marine and Sea Pros, Riviera and local dealer SF Yachts, Heesen Yachts and Mondomarine.

As event organisers worked to broaden the show’s appeal as a marine lifestyle event, visitors were able to learn the basics of boating and fishing through a number of hands-on activities. Guests were also able to experience the first round of the 2016 F1H2O World Championship, which took place alongside the Dubai show.

TAIWAN INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

THE TAIWAN INTERNATIONAL Boat Show (TIBS) returned to the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center and Horizon City Marina (Mar 10-13) for its second edition.

The biennial gala concluded drawing a total of 1,950 international buyers during the four-day exhibition, which also saw a steady stream of general visitors totalling around 70,000.

Twenty-eight domestic yacht manufacturers, including Global Yacht Builders Co., Monte Fino Yachts, Morningstar Boats, Novatec Yachts Taiwan, Lohas Ocean, Grand Harbour Yachts, Hsing Hang Marine Industries Co. and Tachou Ship Building Co., showcased yachts alongside sixteen international brands, including Princess Yachts Taiwan, Bavaria, Delta, Galeon, Imexus, Jeanneau, Kimple, Marinekart, and Monte Carlo.

Simpson Marine Taiwan displayed top models from the number-one sailing boat builder in the world, Beneteau Group, with a Lagoon 450 catamaran, an Oceanis 38 sailing yacht and the MC6, a powerboat from the Monte Carlo range. Taiwan’s biggest yacht-exporter, Horizon Group, brought three large boats to TIBS, including an RP120 raised pilothouse superyacht. At 120ft, it was the largest yacht at the show. Taiwan-based Ocean Alexander, a firsttime exhibitor, and New Ocean Yachts also displayed models in excess of 80ft.

SINGAPORE YACHT SHOW

THE SIXTH EDITION OF THE SINGAPORE Yacht Show (Apr 7-10) concluded after welcoming some of the most prestigious vessels to the ONE°15 Marina Club in Sentosa Cove. Southeast Asia’s premier yachting event hosted thousands of yacht enthusiasts and potential buyers to view more than 100 boats, yachts and superyachts during the four-day show.

Exhibitors included local players Northrop & Johnson Asia, SG Boating, Supratechnic and Grand Banks, as well as international leaders Gulf Craft, Sunseeker, Sanlorenzo and Sunreef.

Dutch Shipyard Amels displayed its stunning 55m M/Y La Familia. Luxury yacht company Fraser Yachts boasted an impressive on-water fleet with 50-metre M/Y Sensation joining Royal Denship’s 43m M/Y Triple 8 and the 34m Moonen-built yacht M/Y Azul A.

British luxury yacht manufacturer Princess Yachts was on hand to unveil the restored Project 31 cruiser – Project 31@50 – and the all-new Princess 75, which made its Asia- Pacific premiere. The two were showcased alongside a line-up of sports, sports bridge and motor yachts.

Benetti returned to the Lion City with one of its most revered yachts of the last few years, Lady Candy, a majestic 56m vessel based in Hong Kong, which was also the largest yacht displayed at the show. The superyacht builder also revealed the concept of its collaboration with designer Henrik Fisker. The Benetti Fisker 50 superyacht is now ready to be built in Livorno, Italy.

Italian brand Azimut Yachts, owned by the Azimut | Benetti Group, reported strong sales with 10 Azimut 43 Atlantis orders placed. The impressive sales confirm the yachts success as one of the top models in the Azimut collection. The 43 Atlantis was further recognised during the Asia Boating Awards when presented with the Best Production Motor Yacht (Up to 15m) award.

Hong Seh’s Ferretti Group showcased its main brand Ferretti Yachts and brands Riva and Pershing, along with Cranchi’s Asian premier of the Eco-Trawler 43 Long Distance, as well as new brand acquisition Boston Whaler.

Sales and brokerage company Simpson Marine presented a wide range of vessels from its prestigious portfolio this year including brands from Beneteau Group with Beneteau Sail, Beneteau Power, Lagoon Sail and Power, CNB, Monte Carlo and Monte Carlo Yachts. Yachts from Italian superyacht brand Sanlorenzo and American sport fishing builder Viking were also displayed. The eight-yacht line-up included the Asian premiere of the Lagoon 450 SporTop, as well as the Asian premiere of the Sanlorenzo 104.

Australia-based yacht builder Riviera showcased models across its collection, including the Riviera Flybridge, Sport Yacht, SUV and new Sports Motor Yacht designs, as well as the Belize Motor Yacht line. Sunreef Yachts continued to promote its customised multihulls at the event. The shipyard graced this year’s show with the world premiere of a range of luxury catamarans – the Sunreef Supreme, including the launch of the first Sunreef Supreme 68, Eagle Wings.

Superyacht toys and accessories delighted buyers and gadget enthusiasts alike. This year’s show saw new exhibits and returning favourites on display from FunAir, Seabob, Quadrofoil, and U-Boat Worx, as well as the show’s first on-water demonstration platform.

The Singapore show provided a first-class platform for regional guests to meet yachting professionals, boat owners, supercar aficionados and a select group of invited participants keen to explore the luxury yachting scene. This year’s events included the highly anticipated Gala Dinner, a series of supercar parades, fashion shows and cooking demos. The prestigious Asia Boating Awards ceremony was also held during this year’s show.

Organised by Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating magazines, the event at ONE°15 Marina Club honoured the best in Asian and international yachting, featuring a select group of HNWIs, VIPs and key personalities of the yachting industry.
