The Deal: Available until March 31, the Timeless Pleasure package is a 110-minute journey inclusive of a bath, scrub and massage. A key element of this treatment is the signature gemstone related to your energy level, mood and how you want to feel that day – either Pearl (purifying), Pink Tourmaline (healing), Aquamarine (balancing), Ruby (empowering), Blue Sapphire (vitality) or Citrine (renewing), determined by a simple questionnaire at the beginning of your treatment. The gemstones have been soaked in different aromatic ingredients to enhance their healing properties.
The Lowdown: Following a detailed consultation, my therapist Phuniga leads me into the treatment suite, where a hot Gem Bath with petals awaits. The bath, like the rest of the treatment, features my gemstone today (Aquamarine, which is infused with cedar wood and lavender). After a relaxing foot ritual, Phuniga leaves me with some tea and fresh fruit to enjoy the soak in private. Twenty minutes quickly passes as the warm water melts away the tension in my muscles and my skin is well prepped for the upcoming Gemstone Scrub.
An hour-long massage follows the purifying body scrub. Using warm Aquamarine stones, it combines various techniques, such as classic Swedish, Balinese, lomi lomi and stretching, to stimulate circulation and restore the balance to the body and mind, while the nourishing massage oil replenishes the moisture level of the skin. As I’ve indicated that my shoulders and upper back are especially tense, Phuniga also pays extra attention to these areas. My indulgent journey ends with a head massage, but a facial massage can be included as well.
The Benefits: I could feel an instant difference in my skin. The scrub had removed dead skin cells from the surface, leaving my once dull and dry skin feeling silky smooth and soft. The gentle massage induced a deep sense of relaxation, but I was told it would be paced differently depending on the guest’s gemstone, to energise or destress. The stretching also helped alleviate pain in the joints from long hours sitting at a computer.
The Verdict: I love how each part of the treatment was given ample time; there was not a sense of urgency throughout the pampering journey. At the end, rather than ushering me off to get dressed, the therapist simply tilted the bed up and let me wake up slowly. For two hours I was able to escape my worries in the relaxed atmosphere – perhaps this is what makes the treatment truly ‘timeless’.
