Lánchíd 19 Design Hotel, Budapest

Recognised for its innovative architectural and interior design, the award-winning Lánchíd 19 combines the talent of young Hungarian artists to create a stylish home away from home on the Danube riverbank. Located near the central area of the ‘Pearl of the Danube’, the hotel is a stone’s throw away from the iconic Széchenyi Chain Bridge, with the historical Buda Castle directly behind.

Adorning the hotel’s exterior wall is an accordion-like glass facade which can rearrange itself according to the weather, and is illuminated by colour-changing lights at night. Inside the L19 restaurant and Lobby Bar, glass is also used as a dominant material to create a sense of openness. Each of the 45 guest rooms features a floor-to-ceiling window that offers stunning views of either the river and the UNESCO World Heritage Sites on Pest, or the Buda Castle. Meanwhile, the three Panorama Suites on the top floor boast a large terrace fitted with an oval Jacuzzi tub. The rooms and suites all have a distinctive theme, telling unique stories through creative installations inspired by designer chairs.

Underneath the modern building, the remains of a medieval water tower – a part of the Buda Castle’s water supply system – can be seen in the basement, where a section room provides a space for small events, such as wine tasting. They are also visible through the lobby’s glass flooring, which creates an interesting contrast of new meets old. Visit Lanchid19hotel Website
