Since taking sole stewardship at Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli has doubled his efforts to dress women in ways so that their strength and character show through. Piccioli brought over last season’s artistic mode (he had worked with British artist Zandra Rhodes to re-enact Hieronymus Bosch’s triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights) by combining Victoriana and Memphis Group influences on his turnout of heavenly dresses with regal high collars. The works of Nathalie du Pasquier, a founding member of the famous art collective, turned up as colourful patches and drawings that illustrated Piccioli’s passion and bold desire to create a beautiful world at Valentino.
