Cate Blanchett brings Hollywood glamour to Singapore.

The Oscar-winning actress— and friend of the brand—was here to inaugurate Van Cleef & Arpels’ “The Art and Science of Gems” at the ArtScience Museum, a retrospective that explores the unique relationship between mineralogy and artisanship in jewellery. The 400 exquisite jewels on display, that have been worn by legendary beauties such as Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Blanchett herself , proved that if anyone could add to that discussion, it was Van Cleef & Arpels. The select group of guests who were there by invitation by CEO Nicolas Bos, were privy to these along with pieces owned by private collectors in Dubai, Monaco, the UK and Switzerland, as well as 250 rare minerals from the French National Museum of Natural History. The star of the show was a jewelled phoenix holding a 96.62-carat briolettecut yellow diamond in its beak. Blanchett and the guests were then ferried across to The Clifford Pier for a four-course lunch by Michelin-starred chef Bruno Ménard. To say it was a dazzling event would be an understatement.
