In April 2012, Raf Simons arrived at Dior and propelled the French House into an age of modernity and futurism in the three years he was in charge as Creative Director. His intention to inject Dior with a contemporary attitude was evident in the way he chose to open his debut collection with a reiteration of Dior’s iconic Bar jacket. Cut and tailored to perfection, the sleek look of the jacket transcended the boundaries of time. During the course of his tenure, Simons was respectful of the House’s codes, but he reimagined them in novel ways that also pushed the limits of its craft, coming up with collections that put Dior in good stead for the 21st century and beyond.
