The New Easy Glam: Modern Ziegfeld Makeup

Fresh skin; wide eyes amped up not with liner, but several coats of mascara; and bold, matte red lips. Pat McGrath revived the coquettish glamour of Broadway’s famous chorus girls in the ’20s on Prada’s Resort 2018 catwalk minus the fuss and drama – a look perfect for the party season that’s around the corner; feathered headband not necessary. – MSY

THE MODERN ESSENTIAL: BRUSH-ON FRAGRANCES

Let’s be honest: fiddly, miniature bottles of perfume can be, well, too fiddly or miniature to use at times. Cult beauty label Byredo’s latest innovation isn’t meant to be travel-friendly per se, but has all the elements that make it perfect for that on-the-go scent fix. Inspired by those used in kabuki theatre, each elegant brush contains perfume in the form of micro-fine powder – possibly a first – that can be applied to specific spots, dusted all over, or layered over spray fragrances for a light yet easy pick-me-up. That they’re available in the brand’s popular Bal d’Afrique, Gypsy Water and Blanche ($79 each, Escentials) scents also means that they’ll probably sell out quick. – MSY
